Introverted Indies October Edition

Featuring B. Green

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve had a good start to October. I love a spiced pumpkin latte!

I’ve got my Introverted Indies cap on now. Though Lucy and I considered a seperate newsletter for Introverted Indies, we felt that trying to run a newsletter each, plus an Introverted one and the YouTube channel was a little overwhelming. Along with all the adulting that we also have to do (boo!), we’ve opted for adding the written interviews to our individual newsletters but under the Introverted Indies heading.

So, if you havent heard about Introverted Indies. We are a Youtube channel set up by myself and the fabulous Lucy A. McLaren. We aim to give indie authors a platform to chat about their books and to get their work out there.

Though we are small and just starting out, we have almost a years worth of wonderful authors lined up already. Some for written interviews and some for video interviews. So our sign ups are currently closed until we can get on top of it, but we do plan to open again soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

However, we are looking for authors to read a 5 minute excerpt from their books to upload to the channel. If you’re interested please email [email protected] and tell us about your book. We’d love to hear from you.

So, here goes. Our first interview with the fabulous B. Green, which can also be found on Lucy A. McLaren’s website here.

Introverted Indies meets B. Green

Hi. Thanks so much for joining us at Introverted Indies. We are so pleased to have you here and to get to know you and your books. First things first, can you tell me a bit about yourself?

My name is B. Green, I am a hybrid Paranormal Romance Author, devoted mother of three demons, sustainable home fragrance CEO and lover of red wine and Vampire books.

I'm with you on the red wine, B! As a mother of four myself, it's needed sometimes! Paranormal Romance sounds great, can you tell me more about your book The House of Grenville? I understand it will be released next month.

Of course. This book has been a bit of a whirlwind… it was originally self published in April this year. “The House of Grenville” built an incredible following, which I wasn’t expecting! But after some reflection and feedback from readers, it wasn’t my best work (in a technical sense). The book had a few grammatical errors, there were some pacing issues in different spots, so I decided to pull it from the shelves and give it one last round of edits. So this “re-release” happening next month will be two books combined (everyone said they wanted more and I’m a total people pleaser).

“The House of Grenville” is a total genre mash. We have elements of the British Mafia, Vampire Diaries and Wild Child (the film) it’s a mixed bag of everything I love to read. I would describe it as marmite, you either love it or you hate it!

The story follows Louisa Garrick, the daughter of Birmingham’s most notorious (and recently incarcerated) gang leader. And her journey through Britains most affluent University. After being accepted on a scholarship, Louisa must navigate an unfamiliar class system as well as trying to keep her family history under wraps. That is until she clashes with the University’s illusive heir- Benjamin Grenville, who seems to have it out for Louisa from day one.

At its heart, this is a story about love, self discovery and generational trauma. All wrapped up in a spicy, gory, bow.

There are plenty of trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, so I do recommend giving those a browse before deciding to dive in.

(Mental health matters!)

I love hearing success stories like yours. It must be such a buzz to have a book so well received. Romance seems to be flying off the shelves at the moment. Readers don't seem to be able to get enough of it. What inspired you to write The House of Grenville?

It took me by surprise, you hear so often that a debut usually tanks. But the romance community received it so well!

Reading romance is what got me into writing, particularly Romantasy. I think that it’s great how many women have been inspired to pursue creative writing careers, I think women as a whole are waking up to the fact we’ve kinda been sexually repressed for a long time. We’re taking back our sexual power through these books, being open about what we’re reading, discovering others with similar tastes/mindset/trauma. I love the community and being a part of it, it’s been incredible to see these conversations happen in a healthy way.

My biggest inspirations for “The House of Grenville” were probably “Wuthering heights” and “The Vampire Diaries”.

Romance definitely is on the up and I agree it's incredibly important to be able to have those conversations in a healthy way. Wuthering Heights is a classic! I remember singing along to the Kate Bush song as a child! After such success, do you have any tips for your fellow authors? And do you have any other projects on the go?

My tip is a cliche one I’m afraid. Just write the book. When you feel like giving up just keep writing, that first draft is going to be awful but keep going, keep perfecting your craft and learning. You never know where you might end up if you do!

I have a traditionally published series coming up next year with the wonderful Last Chapter Press. The series is called “The Crimson Carnival Series” which is a Four Book Vampire series.

The first book will be released in May 2025!

Such good advice. I've been working along the lines of some similar advice—trying not to go back and edit as I go and just get the first draft down. It will be rubbish but at least it's down. It can be reworked as many times as needed afterwards. Congratulations on the publishing deal with Last Chapter Press. It sounds like readers have lots to look forward to from you in the not so distant future. Other than writing and reading, do you have any other hobbies you enjoy?

Yes, the key is to just power through and get it done. I find I often get stuck in editing loopholes!

To be honest, I find little time for hobbies at the moment. But when I do get some down time, I love to catch up on TV shows and films.

Also, how do you fit writing in around three kids? As a mum of four myself, I have one day a week off work that I protect for writing. But it goes so quickly!

t’s really hard to balance my time. I find writing a little bit every day (I aim for 1,000 words a day) helps keep the momentum going. I’m definitely a mood writer, so I find when I have an entire day to sit and write- the words just don’t happen. So doing a bit every day works best for my neurodivergent brain!

I 100% get being a mood writer. Today I had a day to write, when did the words start to flow? Ten minutes before school pick up! Author problems, right?!
It's been awesome chatting with you. I can't wait to check out The House of Grenville. So, where can our lovely readers pick up a copy of your book? And how can they keep in touch with future books and updates?

Yes this happens to me every time! So glad I’m not alone!

I will be posting the ARC sign up form any day now, I’m still hesitant to give a release date (just in case I get the plague or something!) but I’m hoping for a middle of November release.

The best way to get updates first on everything writing related is through my Newsletter which is here -

And also on my social media accounts!

Thank you so much for having me, it’s been amazing!
